Command Sergeant Major Jerimiah E. Gan
Command Sergeant Major Jerimiah E. Gan, a native of Crocker, MO, is the oldest of six children born to CSM (RET) Richard and Debbie Gan. He graduated from Crocker High School in 1997 and currently attends Columbia University. He enlisted in the Army in July of 1997 as a Combat Engineer.
His Military education includes the USASMA, Class 64, First Sergeants Course, US Army Mountain Warfare School, Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course, Sapper Leaders Course, Ranger School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Battle Staff Course, Master Resilience Course, and Drill Sergeant School.
CSM Gan began his career with the 5th Engineer Battalion at FT Leonard Wood, MO, where he served as both Team Leader and Squad Leader. After a tour completion in Korea with the 2nd Engineer Battalion, he returned back to FT Leonard Wood, MO where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF I). Upon return from deployment, he was selected to attend Drill Sergeant School and was assigned as a Drill Instructor with the 35th Engineer Battalion. In 2006, CSM Gan reported to FT Benning, GA where he served as a Platoon Sergeant in Echo Company, 1-15 Infantry Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division. He deployed for the second time in support of OIF V to the Dew Aniyah province. CSM Gan was selected above his peers to serve as the First Sergeant of Echo Company 1-15th Infantry Battalion while deployed to OIF V. CSM Gan deployed Echo Company for a second time to Iraq in support of OIF VII to Najaf as part of one of the first Advise and Assist Brigades. After assignment to the 31st Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade as the First Sergeant, he was selected to become the 12th Chief Instructor of the Sapper Leader Course followed by the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. After completion of the USASMA in June 2014, CSM Gan was assigned to the 326th BEB, 1st BCT, and 101st Airborne Div. (AASLT) as the BN CSM. During this assignment, CSM Gan deployed in support of OUA, prepared the BN for the Africa RAF mission, and realigned training to adapt to the modern threats that our nation now faces. Prior to selection as the Army Training Center and Fort Jackson Post Command Sergeant Major, he served as the CSM of the 1st Engineer Brigade where he was able to use his operational experience to influence change throughout a BDE that trains every engineer MOS in the Army.
