Welcome to Fort Jackson, South Carolina and the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy!
One of the highest honors for a noncommissioned officer is a spot in the Drill Sergeant Academy. Only the most qualified NCOs are chosen to attend Drill Sergeant Academy, where they are trained to fulfill a role of utmost importance.
Our mission at The Drill Sergeant Academy is to provide qualified noncommissioned officers with specialized training resulting in the awarding the “Y”, “X” and “8” skill qualification identifiers. They’ll receive top notch training from their Drill Sergeant Leaders or Platoon Sergeant Leaders because they will soon be expected to deliver great training. The Courses are designed to build on the leadership abilities and skills acquired by the candidate and provides him/her the unique knowledge and skills to train IET Soldiers.
The U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy coaches, teaches and mentors Noncommissioned Officers to assume the roles of Drill Sergeant and AIT Platoon Sergeant within the Initial Military Training environment that enables training centers the ability to produce the world’s finest Soldiers.
Your attitude, diligence, and cooperation with others are significant factors in the degree of your success and professional improvement. The USADSA standards are high. We expect you to have a positive attitude, be personally committed to succeed, and obtain a complete understanding of the “how and why”, and not just “what” we teach.
Upon graduation, you will be assigned as a Drill Sergeant or an AIT Platoon Sergeant in an Initial Entry Training Unit.
Your assignment will be both challenging and rewarding as you assist in the transformation of America’s sons and daughters into Soldiers for our Army.
